Whether you're embracing Swedish death cleaning, downsizing in preparation for a move, or cleaning out a loved one's home, you're taking on an enormous project that will likely feel overwhelming at times. Some people struggle to know where to begin, while others start projects with a lot of enthusiasm that wanes partway through when things look worse than they did in the beginning. Getting help from a professional can provide the support you need to see a challenging project through to the end.
As an experienced librarian and archivist, my goal with any downsizing or decluttering project is to create spaces that are clean, safe, organized, and better suited to the needs of the people using them. I accomplish this by providing an impartial outside perspective to help clients let go of objects that aren't serving them and reclaim a sense of ownership over spaces that have gotten away from them. While I do help clients find new homes for or properly dispose of unwanted or unneeded items on a small scale, my primary focus is on the items that are remaining in the space, not those that are leaving.
My role naturally includes some elements of emotional support, but my services are not a substitute for working with a qualified mental health professional to both address the root causes of clutter accumulation and process the often intense emotions stirred up by rearranging or removing the clutter. Prospective clients with emotional attachments to their clutter are strongly encouraged to have therapeutic supports in place prior to seeking assistance from a professional organizer.
I am not able to provide junk removal, biohazard cleanup, or estate sale services.Â
